Lead, Inspire, and Make a Difference

Are you a driven and ambitious vet ready to take the next step into a leadership role, while still staying hands-on with clinical work? This is your opportunity to shape the future of a thriving practice in Southwest Scotland as our new Small Animal Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon.

As Clinical Lead, you’ll not only lead the clinical team, but also have a significant role in non-clinical operations, making this the perfect chance to step into a leadership role while keeping your passion for small animal care at the forefront. Working alongside our current Clinical Director, you’ll drive the direction of the practice, coach and mentor the next generation, and play a pivotal role in innovating for the future.

Shape the Future

From small animal consulting and surgery to working in a busy mixed practice with a wide variety of cases, this role will challenge and excite you. Our current Clinical Director holds a Certificate in Cattle Health and Production and spends much of their time on the farm, allowing you, as the Clinical Lead, to focus on small animal cases and maintain a great balance in this truly mixed practice.

Whether your passion lies in internal medicine, ultrasound, exotics, or orthopaedics, we’d love to hear about your special interests.

Flexibility that fits your lifestyle

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people. This full-time role involves up to 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 6 pm, with a well-deserved hour for lunch. However, we’re more than happy to discuss part-time options and help you shape a schedule that fits around your lifestyle.

The role includes a weekend rota, with just one Saturday morning every two weeks. Plus, while we pride ourselves on providing our own out-of-hours care for large animals, there’s no out-of-hours responsibility for this role, offering you even more flexibility and peace of mind.

Our Journey, Your Opportunity

As an RCVS accredited farm and small animal practice, we’re proud to offer state-of-the-art facilities, including the latest ultrasound equipment for both small and large animals, bull and TUP fertility kits, digital radiography, and an IDEXX suite. But it’s not just about the cutting-edge technology - it’s the people and the community that make us stand out.

We are a close-knit, supportive team of 10 vets, 3 registered veterinary nurses, 3 auxiliary nurses, and 5 receptionists, working across two branches in Stranraer and Newton Stewart. We’re committed to helping you grow professionally, with support available for additional qualifications, such as a Certificate or DBR, and opportunities to build your expertise alongside a passionate team.

Outside of work, the area offers plenty of outdoor adventures, from paddleboarding on local beaches to hiking and camping in the Southern Uplands. Nestled in the scenic southwest of Scotland, we're just a short drive from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Carlisle, combining a peaceful, community-oriented lifestyle with convenient access to the energy of city life.
